Richgard Hibma bought the car in 1980 as result of an ad in 1980 Hemmings motor News that was placed by a seller who lived and Northeast U.S. and had used the car for drag racing . Owned and raced by Richard Hibma of madison wisconsin in HSR SVRA in the period 1980 to 1988 in the midwest u.s. . He sold car to canadian vintage sports car racer jack boxstrom who kept car in green bay wisconsin .
Other details:	One of only 233 Code 687 Corvettes built in 1961 the Ermine White hardtop offered here has been raced its entire life on one notable occasion by the very man most responsible for developing the Code 687 option former Corvette Race Engineer Bob Clift. An original radio/heater delete car it was factory equipped for full bore competition with the solid-lifter 315hp fuelie 283 RPO 687 brakes and suspension metallic linings 3.70 Positraction traction bars and 15.5-inch wheels. Corvette fuel-injection specialist Richard Hibma of Madison Wisconsin bought the car in September 1980 He removed its correct 283/315hp fuelie engine and replaced it with a race-prepared small block backed with a 1964-vintage Muncie 4-speed installed a modern fire-suppression system Koni shocks and Ferodo brake shoes then returned to competition in vintage events at nearby Road America. In March 1992 Bob Clift was invited to drive the car at the Sebring vintage event preceding the 12 Hours. Clift immediately found the form he had developed over hundreds of laps and thousands of miles refining the cars brakes at Sebring in the early Sixties paring seconds off his lap times and setting a new class record in the HSR GP.The Corvette was entered in the 1996 Rolex Legends of Daytona vintage event after which it was dismantled thoroughly checked and reassembled to its original configuration. The original 315-horse 283 engine was bored .030 and all new internals installed. A Chevrolet PN#3927140 solid lifter cam was fitted along with big-valve 462 heads and Hibma rebuilt the original F.I. unit. The original interior was reinstalled along with the original body trim and the car was carefully reassembled. It comes with full documentation including HSR and SVRA log books and the original fuel-injection heads and cam. Born to competition this enticing vintage Corvette racer has been expertly rebuilt and returned to the track by a dedicated enthusiast and kept in exceptional condition.
